Bosch is Europe's best-selling wiper brand, but its catalogue can be confusing: Aerotwin, Aerofit, Twin, AeroEco – and within the Aerotwin family, the cryptic letters A, AM and AR in the part numbers. We sort out the ranges so you pay only for what you actually need.
The best Bosch has to offer: flat-beam construction, even contact pressure and Bosch's own Power Protection Plus rubber compound. The range has three sub-series, and it matters which one you pick:
| Part number | What it is | Adapter |
|---|---|---|
| A… (e.g. A929S) | OE version – the one fitted at the factory | Direct Fit: no adapter, fits only “its own” connector |
| AM… | Multi-Clip – the universal version | Multi-adapter for several common arm types |
| AR… | Retrofit – for switching from conventional frame wipers | Pre-fitted adapter, for upgrading older vehicles |
Rule of thumb: if your car left the factory with flat-beam wipers, take the A number from the vehicle search – it fits just like the original. If the car is older and came with conventional frame wipers as standard, AR or AM is your version. All Bosch Aerotwin
The budget flat-beam line: the same idea of a flat blade, but with a simpler rubber compound and fewer connector variants. A compromise for anyone who wants flat-beam construction on a minimal budget. It falls short of Aerotwin when it comes to lifespan.
Metal frame, a design proven over decades, and a compound with a micro-edge. The Twin Spoiler variant adds a spoiler to the driver's blade for more contact pressure on the motorway. When Twin is the right choice: when there is no flat-beam option for your connector, for older vehicles in the “original style”, or when price matters alongside decent quality. Bosch catalogue
A simplified flat-beam wiper that Bosch developed specifically for checkout areas at petrol stations, supermarkets and DIY stores, and deliberately kept separate from the flagships by sales channel so that AeroEco does not compete with Aerotwin in specialist retail. The series is built for the impulse purchase – “I need a wiper right now”: universal connector, minimal price, but a simplified rubber compound and a much shorter lifespan. As a long-term solution it falls short of Aerofit and Twin.

Not sure whether to choose Bosch or a competitor? There is our big comparison of Bosch, Valeo, Denso and SWF.
A is the original OE wiper with no adapter (Direct Fit), AM is the universal version with a multi-adapter, and AR is the variant for retrofitting older vehicles that came with frame wipers. The blade itself is an Aerotwin in all three cases.
As a rule it is the same A number in different packaging – and more expensive. Compare the part number.
If your connector allows it: yes – wiping performance at speed and durability are noticeably better. In calm city driving the difference is smaller, and Twin remains a sensible saving.
There is a version for almost every vehicle, but not every range: first select by model, then choose the range from those available.
Which Bosch range is available for your connector is shown by the vehicle search.
